Public Speaking ABC

public speakingThe Guide to How to be a Public Speaking Star:

Mastering writing and delivering a speech is just like a child growing from infancy to adulthood. No one comes with a dictionary embedded in their brains at the time of birth even if he were to be a descendent of Einstein. Even all these geniuses closely watched the things around them and studied them for long hours before coming to any kind of result. After all Einstein's equation E=mc2 might seem to combine just three letters and a word but has a profound meaning way beyond the understanding most of. Anyways let's not go into the details. This was just an example to tell you that with practice and dedication even you can master the art of speech writing.

Where to Begin
From:

The best beginning would be by observing and listening to as many speeches as your time permits. Try taking down notes and the words that the speakers use. Talk to them and ask them questions on how they learned. What they did to become good speakers. Let me tell you the most common answer that they'll give you-they just think like a winner and before every speech tell themselves that the next speech is going to even much better than their previous one. Make it a point. Never be in doubt before you have to deliver a speech. Tell yourself that you can do it and that's it.

Next step is to get down with the writing process. There are just three portions of a successful speech- the beginning, a middle line and a solid ending. The rest of the lines are made on the basis of how convinced you are about the topic on which you are about to speak. Find a quite corner of your house or nearby the lake or river or anywhere you are all alone and no one will disturb you. Try to concentrate on the topic and write down the points that come to your mind. Once you finish with the process you have an outline of what you want to speak. This was your heart speaking out itself based on the amount of conviction you had regarding the subject.

Now it's time to put it all together and use your mind to put it all in logical order. Give it a sound beginning. You can use an old saying or maybe just a proverb to bring in the attention of the listeners. For the middle you can use a humorous one liner or maybe even a sarcastic one depending upon the atmosphere in the hall. For the end just use a conclusion or a possible consequence of what might happen if what you were saying were to come true. Even a good ending may be a thanksgiving to those who made it possible for your presence on the stage.

What Next:

Now that you have written it all down go through it once to check any kind of grammatical errors or misused words or other such flaws. Next come Time-Check. Note down the time that you take to deliver the speech and cut down or add some more points to make it fit the time allotted to speak. Now that your speech has been finalized make some cue-cards. Write down the important points on small chits. This helps you in including all the points while you deliver the speech and not leave behind any. Also they act as memory buttons because more often than not you would discover that you actually remembered all the points that you wrote down on these cue-cards.

Important Points:

Stick copies of your speech on the fridge or on your bookshelf or on your closet or whichever part of your home that you check out most often. This way consciously or sub-consciously the speech would be imprinted on your memory.
