Public Speaking ABC

public speakingEffective Public Speaking How to be a Public Speaking Star:

Public speaking is an art unlike other forms of communication, which very few are born with. Most of the greatest public speakers of our times have developed their public speaking skills over years of practice and experience. Still, some of the pros in the field get nervous before arriving at the public meeting. Thus, at the end of the day it's all about how much effort you are ready to put in the form of practice and, listening which will help you become a good or even a great public speaker.

If you are a beginner then nervousness and anxiety is bound to be there while you are on the stage. I remember the first time at what time I was
on stage. Although I had remembered the entire speech by heart, while speaking at what time I looked into the microphone I forgot everything there. I got booed and then I decided that I would also become a good public speaker like my school's president. I started carefully observing people on stage and took their help at what time it was my turn to be there. One of the most important things to remember about public speaking is that you have to understand the topic on which you are speaking to be convincing to the listeners. It does not matter how well you may have mugged up a speech unless you understand and agree to the contents of your speech.

As a beginner it's always helpful to practice in front of mirror before actual delivery the speech. Look into your eyes in the mirror while practicing and notice your expressions as you speak out loud. This gives you the confidence to face people in the eye while speaking in public. You can also adjust the way you stand in front of a gathering this way.

Also for beginners it is always helpful to carry some notes of the speech so that if one falters in the middle then he/she can at least just refer to the notes and avoid any unnecessary embarrassment.

Another notion of importance is the clarity of your voice. Although you don't have to be loud, but speaking in a very low voice indicates lack of confidence. You must speak in a tone and volume that is clear. Another mistake that most of the beginners commit is the speed in which they speak. Most of the beginners try to speak very rapidly so that they can complete the speech as quickly as possible and get out of the nightmarish speaking exercise. But this way they leave out a lot of content and the speed is obtained at the cost of clarity of voice. They eat almost half of the words while speaking, which presents the listener with a very vague idea of what the speaker is talking about.

One must relax before the speech delivery. Do not get much tensed about what is bound to happen during the speech. Always think positive. Do not try to do last minute memorizing of the speech that you wrote down on your notes. Just imagine yourself as delivering the speech and getting over with it in the best possible way that you ever could. This helps in boosting your confidence and relaxing your mind at the same time.

Remember, if you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you like to win, but you think you can't, it's almost certain you won't. So don't be afraid. Go ahead and conquer the world with your words.
